Miya Marcano was a 19-year-old college student who went missing from her apartment near the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. The investigation into her disappearance began when Miya missed a flight home to Fort Lauderdale on September 24, 2021.

Her family tried calling but they were unable to reach her by telephone so they called law enforcement and asked the Orange County Sheriff's Office to perform a wellness check on Miya at her Arden Villas apartment.

When deputies arrived, they noted that her bedroom door was blocked by a shelf of some kind. The window had also been tampered with, and the police thought it looked unsecure.

Then they noticed dried blood on her pillow. According to deputies, Miya was last seen on a security camera, leaving the front office of the Arden Villas apartments, where she also worked, at 5:09 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021

A missing person bulletin was posted on September 25, the day after her disappearance, and the same day her family arrived on their drive up from Fort Lauderdale.
