Home Invader Steals Just Desserts
Sometimes, there are signs you might want to consider a new career. We caught this story from WAVY about two would-be home invasion robbers who got one of these signs in giant flashing neon.
One victim was able to convince the home invaders to let him take his barking dog out back to calm it down. The victim ran around to the front of the house where he found the getaway car still running, hopped inside, and drove it around the corner where he was able to call the police. He also found information to identify James Kennedy inside the car, along with Kennedy’s cell phone.
A second victim woke up to Kennedy’s co-conspirator pointing a gun at his face. After stealing thousands of dollars in cash, a handgun, and other valuables, they fled outside to find that their getaway car had been stolen by the victim. Both men ended up running away from the house instead.
One of the robbers accidentally left his gun in the victims living room, so the second victim picked it up and ran out of the house after them. Kennedy and his co-conspirator saw him and opened fire; the victim returned fire, but no one was injured in the shootout.
Kennedy ended up being sentenced to over 22 years in prison, with another 32 years and six months suspended on condition of 10 years good behavior and an undefined period of supervised probation following his release. Sadly, his co-conspirator remains unidentified.
