Billy Kipkorir Chemirmir was a Kenyan immigrant and serial killer accused in the murders of multiple elderly white and asian women in Dallas, Texas and its surrounding suburbs. Chemirmir was indicted in 2019 for nearly two dozen murders but convicted of only two. After his convictions, the remaining charges against Chemirmir were dismissed.
The dismissal upset many of the families of his other victims, with no feeling of justice for the death of their loved ones. Civil suits were filed accusing him of a further six murders of a similar nature.
Billy Kipkorir Chemirmir was born in Kabonyony village, a Kenyan suburb of Eldama Ravine as the son of a long-serving village chief on December 8, 1972. He reportedly grew up in a large family with 27 siblings from his father’s three wives.
Chemirmir says he came to the U.S. in 2003, where, according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he has permanent resident status as a result of his marriage to an American citizen. In 2004, he married in Denton County, before divorcing in Dallas County in 2006. He sold cars before working as a senior caregiver in the Dallas, Texas area.
Chemirmir firmly denied any involvement in these heinous acts during an interview with the Dallas Morning News in 2020.
“I am not a killer. I’m not at all what they’re saying I am. I am a very innocent person. I was not brought up that way. I was brought up in a good family. I didn’t have any problems all my life,” Chemirmir told the outlet.
Chemirmir had previous convictions in Texas for driving under the influence in 2010 and 2011. In July 2012, Chemirmir was arrested for assault, and in June 2016 for trespassing at the Edgemere Retirement Community. He pled no contest to both charges later that year.
