Initial reports from the October 25th mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine varied wildly. Lewiston City Councilor Robert McCarthy told CNN that at least 22 people were dead, with NBC News reporting that up to 50 people had been injured in the shooting.

Authorities told ABC News that dozens were injured in the mass shooting which took place in two seperate locations, both in Lewiston, Maine.

Maine Governor Janet Mills, speaking the following morning, said “I’m profoundly saddened to stand before you today and report that 18 people lost their lives. Thirteen people were injured in last night’s attacks.”

An intense manhunt continues for Robert Card, who was identified first as a “person of interest” and then as a suspect in the shootings by the Lewiston Police Department. On the morning of October 26th, Maine authorities confirmed that they have issued an arrest warrant for Card.

A shelter-in-place order remains in effect for Androscoggin County and Northern Sagadahoc County, with officials suggesting residents stay inside and lock their doors, as Robert Card, 40, is “considered armed and dangerous,” the police department warned on Facebook, adding “Please contact law enforcement if you are aware of his whereabouts.”
